Debra Maddocks, branch manager for Tyson Properties Helderberg and Alet Ollemans, licensee for Seeff Plettenberg Bay, share what it's really like to be a woman in the real estate industry, what they love most about their work, and what continues to inspire them.
The Why: What is the most rewarding part of your day-to-day work in property?
"A few years ago, my answer would’ve been different. It was about securing the sale, getting those signatures, and knowing I’d found a home for another family. Now that I’ve moved from sales agent to mentor, coach, and Branch Manager of Tyson Properties Helderberg, my perspective has shifted. The most rewarding part is watching our candidate agents grow. I get to be there for their first listing, their first sale, or their first "I got this" moment.
"Managing the Helderberg branch means I get to build a team, protect our culture, and help people build careers, not just do deals. Helping others succeed is now my measure of success," she says.
